The following photos are of some of my turnings. As the Webmaster and
newsletter editor of the Dakota Woodturners I continual try to improve the
quality of the content and especially the photos posted to the web site.
At the beginning of November 2009 I started researching photography of wood
turned items and built a light tent shown in the second photo below. I
still have some things to learn about lighting and composition, but hopefully
very soon the quality of the web site photos will improve dramatically.
The four photos in the first row to the right were my first attempts and were
pretty poor. I did not have the proper lighting and used a sheet as a back
drop. Wrinkles are very evident. Starting in the second row I
experimented with different lighting. The duplicate photos are for
comparison of different light, exposure, focus and angles. The remaining
photos have improved definition with the improved lighting although I will still
need to work on the hot spots of the shinier pieces.
