Ron Day led the discussion on sharpening starting from various types of grinders and set ups including dressing the stones.  Ron then went through the procedures for sharpening the various types of tools.  A good reference for sharpening can be found at the following web site.  The article is in two parts covering all aspects of sharpening.   http://bigtreetools.com/articles.html
